THE FRUSTRATING CASE OF JONBENÉT RAMSEY
This post fully respects the memory of JonBenét Patricia Ramsey.
Hello everyone!
My name is Constança and welcome back to my blog! Today, I´m bringing the frustrating case of JonBenét Ramsey, and when I say frustrating you will understand as soon as I tell you about it. If you guys haven´t heard of this case, I would strongly advise you to look more into it. I´m really curious about this kind of situations, I don´t know, I must have been an FBI agent in my past life, because, I love to discover and to look into these cases. I have to say that, the police work in this case was absolute crap, not to say something else more offensive. Let´s get into this case!
So, JonBénet Patricia Ramsey, was born in 6th of August of 1990, to her parents Jonh Bennett Ramsey and Patsy Ramsey in Atlanta, Georgia. She also had an older brother, Burke, who was 3 years older than her. This girl was beautiful, absolutely cute and adorable. She was a beauty queen, who followed her mother´s steps, wearing lots of makeup, makeup that a 6-year-old should not wear, provocative clothing and singing provocative songs. This girl, was a hot-bed for those who had any less good intentions.
Patsy Ramsey, who had a big age difference to her husband of 14 years, was 40 years old in 1996, and was a beauty queen, just like her daughter. She had awards after awards, including, the Miss West Virginia in 1977, at the age of 21.
This is a huge mistake.
You don´t have to be a genius to understand that, this house at the moment, is an active crime-scene. Any DNA found in that house, from footsteps to fingerprints to fibers, is essencial to the case. Because, this is essentially faced by the police as being a kidnapping, and if this is the scenario, the police needs to isolate the whole house, otherwise, DNA is mixed and in the case of finding an intruder, they will just find DNA of those who just keep walking in and out of this house.
When the police arrives, the first thing they look at, is the ramson note. This note was left by the potential kidnapper and the first thing noticed by the police is that, this note is extremely long, this note is 3 page long, 3! Obviously, this note could have just being 4 lines, not 3 pages.
There are numerous things about this note, that were carefully analysed by investigators, people who worked in the FBI and such. Couple of them actually attempted to re-write this note, and toke them 21 minutes. 21 minutes that this person was under the pressure of getting caught by someone.
The note starts pretty wrong, from the end of the first line to the second line, it says "We are a group of individuals that represent a small foreign fraction.". First of all, these people are rich and a good influence, if you try to intimidate them, you would say something like "we´re a group of terrorists" or something along those lines. Not making it look like I am in crime or anything like that but, you are not going to scare people like this. You are not being powerful or dominant at all.
Second thing, do you still know the number I ask you to remember? The exact $118,000 was the amount that these "kidnappers" asked for. What is that number? The fricking bonus Jonh had in that year. $118,000 is a very specific number, not only specific but also small. The Ramseys were rich, why not going for more than that? Why not going to half a million or even a million, when the kidnappers knew how rich they were.
Another thing was, the kind of language is used in this ramson note. A lot of maternal language such as "do not particularly like you", again, this note and many other things were analysed by investigators and they got to the conclusion that when this kind of language is inserted in the note, it ends up being a female who is behind it all. Also, not only this connects the ramson note to Patsy, but, the handwriting was very similar to Patsy´s, and, this note was written 2 other times, so whoever wrote it, attempted to write it up more than once and, it all was written from Patsy´s pad and pen, which were both underneath the home phone.
Whoever wrote this note, also tried to make themselves look like they were foreign and their first language wasn´t English. They spelled many complicated words correctly, but then common words like "business" were misspelled.
In the crime scene video that was made by the police after they found JonBenét, is clear that in the video, particularly in the basement, there are so many posters from movies and this is where it gets more than obvious. The kidnappers included a big amount of quotes from movies, and specially one "if we catch you talking to a stray dog, she dies". This quote is very similar to a quote of a movie, which was from 1972, and its story is about a girl who disappears in the same circumstances as JonBenét.
The next thing the police decides to do, and here is where the biggest mistake occurs, is to ask Jonh to go and help them search the house, in order to find if anything was missing. Him and his friend, Fleet White, family´s friend go to the basement, where he unfortunately finds the body of his daughter, JonBenét lifeless.
When he sees her body, he picks her up and puts her on the floor in the living room. He moved the body! How much more DNA contamination can be happening right now? He puts her on the floor and Patsy immediately approaches her daughter and tries to make her answer, when the young girl is clearly not breathing.
Now, this is where it gets sketchy as hell!
Not even two hours after they discover her body and the parents find out, Jonh and Patsy hire their lawyers. For who is innocent, hiring a lawyer, makes it having the opposite effect. They stopped co-operating with the police completely but each of the Ramseys provided handwriting, blood, and hair samples to the police.
Behind their lawyer´s and the police´s back, they made a press conference. And here´s the conference:
Now explain to me, how can you not help the police trying to find who killed your child, but you can go straight ahead and give a conference to the press? This has no words! If you analyse their body language, what they say and how they say it, it will tell a hell lot about this case.
Patsy never mentions JonBenét as her daughter, she always calls her by her name. Not enough? Well, when they are asked if they believe that JonBenét was kidnapped, Patsy nods and when she hears John saying "Yes", she changes her mind and confirms it. Also, when she says "I loved THAT child", why does she uses "THAT" instead of "MY child"? This corresponds to the 911 call when she doesn´t mention her daughter´s name, simply describes her and never says "I´m HER mother", saying instead "I´m THE mother". Both clearly talk about crime, like their TV was stolen and not their child´s life.
Is very airy, like I say this case is strange. But, let´s get to the cause of death and how JonBenét was. So, as I said previously, JonBenét was found wrapped in a blanket. She had duct tape over her mouth, was fully dressed and strange enough, she had a nylon cord around her wrists and neck, on the top of her sweater, which is weird, because, if she wanted to she could just get rid of the cord pretty easily.
The autopsy made to JonBenét, revealed that, her cause of death was strangulation and a skull fracture. There´s no evidence of sexual assault, but just like any other options, this one wasn´t dismissed. Although no semen was found, it was discovered that she suffered a genital injury. Her death was ruled as a homicide. There was also fiber from Patsy´s sweater on the tape that was in JonBenét´s mouth.
A garrote was made from nylon cord and part of a broken brush that was from Patsy´s art kit. The autopsy also revealed a "vegetable or fruit material which may represent pineapple" which JonBenét had eaten a few hours before her death. Photographs of the home taken on the day when JonBenét's body was found show a bowl of pineapple on the kitchen table with a spoon in it.
However, both John and Patsy said they did not remember putting the bowl on the table or feeding pineapple to JonBenét. Police reported that they found JonBenét's nine-year-old brother Burke Ramsey's fingerprints on the bowl and Patsy´s fingerprints as well as Burke´s in the glass of tea that was in the table. The Ramseys have always maintained that Burke slept through the entire episode until he was awakened several hours after the police arrived, which in my opinion is weird.
There was no DNA, tissue or blood underneath her finger nails, making the process more difficult to the police. Let´s not forget that, this is the 90s and, to analyse any type of DNA, is needed a big amount of that DNA and not to mention that this is such a long and complicated process to those who analyse the DNA.
The theory that seems to be more appealing and truthful would be that whoever killed this little girl, was someone either in the family or very close to the family, such as a neighbor or a family friend.
This theory, as I said previously is strongly believed by many as either Burke, Patsy or John killed her. To me, I believe and completely have the theory that who killed her was her older brother, Burke. Burke was said to have extremely violent and aggressive behaviors towards his family but specially towards his younger sister.
And there is proof!
The photographer of the family, Judith Phillips, who was also a very close friend of the family and she saw a mark on JonBenét´s cheek while photographing them and she asked them. When she asked them, Patsy only said to her that the kids were playing in the yard, and Burke hit JonBénet with a golf club. The curious thing about this, it had happened a year and half before the murder. Who can guarantee that this wouldn´t be the same scenario a year later? Maybe with something different but the case could be the same.
Not to mention the fact that, JonBenét loved Pineapple in milk and it was according to Burke, her favorite desert. In this case and theory, JonBenét woke up during the night, went downstairs, where both her mum and her brother were deciding to steal a piece of pineapple from Burke´s bowl, which justifies the fact that there was no fingerprints of JonBenét on the bowl and the piece of pineapple found in her stomach, meaning that it was recent and it wasn´t from dinner.
Burke got mad at her, grabbed the flashlight, which was found in the kitchen and no one claimed to own it. He probably hit her (without any intention of killing her) with the flashlight on her head, clarifying the injury she had on her head. To avoid losing another child, Patsy or John or maybe both, waited for her to wake up and possibly strangled her to finish the job, setting up all of this kidnapping scenario having a broken window in the basement and a web, which was intact. I have to say this would be impossible for the simple reason that the window was small, and any adult that went pass it, had big hips and could just destroy the web completely.
I must also mention that, when all of this happened Burke was just 9 years old and in Colorado, the minimum age to arrest anyone is the age of 10, so Burke could not be convinced as a criminal at that age. I will leave the interview he had in 2016 with Dr. Phil:
The way he smiles whilst talking about someone who is no longer with us, the way he moves his hands and the fact that he gives a nervous smile every time Dr. Phil talks about his sister´s death. It´s weird, strange and we all can admit that he knows something he´s not letting out. Again, I´m not accusing him or the family, simply expressing my own opinion about this case.
Only in 2008, police cleared Patsy, John and Burke of any possible charges and up to this day, no one has being charged for JonBenét´s murder, which is an absolute injustice in my opinion. This little girl hasn´t got any justice yet, but, however, in October 2010, the case was reopened! New interviews were conducted following a fresh inquiry by a committee that included federal and state investigators. Police is hoping that by using the new technology they will be able to analyse the DNA that was "lost" to the lack of technology and science understanding about DNA.
It was reported that in September 2016, the investigation into JonBenét´s death continues to be an active homicide case, per Boulder Police Chief Greg Testa.
So, this is a very long and such a big case. When all of this happened, I wasn´t born and I was a bit far from it, but, this case is absolutely frustrating and heartbreaking. I hope you guys learned more about this case if you heard of it. Just comment down below what is your theory and why! I will leave the link down below for you to watch the documentaries I watched because, they´re so interesting!
Remember, treat all people with kindness.
I will see you next time,
